Pilates, originally called “Contrology,” is an exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates that strengthens, stretches, tones, and improves posture.
I believe that Pilates is for everyBODY!
I’m not here to focus on how bodies look, I’m here to help normal people feel better and move with more ease, strength, & mobility.
What can Pilates do for you?
The real question is, what do you want Pilates to do for you?
When you work with me one on one, we get to focus on you and customize each session. Everything is set up to challenge, inspire, and build confidence as we move towards achieving (or smashing?) your goals.
I also offer my clients the knowledge base and skill level that develops from over 18 years of teaching experience, quality training, and lots of continuing education.

Mat PilatesMat Pilates is simple and effective, you can adapt it to pretty much any situation or setting. There are 2 locations available for this service, online via Zoom or in-person at my studio. If you’re doing private mat Pilates lessons on Zoom, you let me know what you have available in terms of space and props then we create your workout around that. Props are optional, and most clients like to build their collection over time. Book an online/zoom lesson here Interested in private, in-person Mat Pilates? When you come for a Pilates lesson in-person at my studio, I have a plenty of props to make it easier to get the feel of exercises or even make them a bit more challenging. How often do I need to come in for Lessons?
That really depends on several factors. In order to get sense of progress momentum, I suggest a minimum of 1 private lesson and 1 group class or video a week. But, I am happy to work with clients on figuring out what consistently works with their busy lives.
How are private sessions different than a group class?
When you work with me one on one, we get to focus on your body and customize each session. You don’t have to remember any of your modifications, and each correction is just for you. This is the optimal way to make quick and substantial changes to the way you move and how you feel.
In group classes, you’re still learning from me directly but the corrections and the exercises or stretches are more general & for everyone in the class. It’s still a safe lesson, but you will need to be personally responsible for modifying and adapting for your body.

Is it safe to do this if I’m under my doctor, physical therapist, or chiropractor’s care?
Yes! Especially if you bring specific information about your diagnosis, current treatment, and any protocols or recommendations your other caregivers can provide. I’m also happy to communicate directly with them if you give and document consent.
I have a specific issue, injury, or physical limitation. Can you help me?
Pilates can support healthy modifications for a wide variety of special populations such as (but not limited to) low back pain, joint replacements, pelvic floor dysfunction, neurological conditions, all stages of pregnancy, osteoporosis, chronic pain, cancer, and scoliosis.
Pilates, especially on the apparatus, can create a safe, smooth transition from an injury or painful issue back into regular activity. It allows you to experience a positive movement experience (it feels good and you are successful doing it) which can make all the difference in how you approach exercise once you have “healed” from the initial issue. Many injuries are chronic or a result of a repetitive stress, we can isolate and re-train that pattern to prevent it from reoccurring.

I’ve never been “in shape,” will this help or am I a lost cause?
Pilates can be adjusted and adapted to help improve any “shape” or any level of fitness. Depending on what you have going on, it may be wise to start in the studio on the machines in order to help build confidence as well as strength, balance, and mobility.
I feel out of place and intimidated at the gym or in a bigger studio, how is this different?
When you work with me one on one, there’s no one else in the room! I work out of a small private studio, where no one can see in the windows or through the door. My goal is to help clients feel comfortable and confident, not judged or intimidated.
How do I access an Online/ Zoom Session?
You can choose to use a phone, tablet, or computer to access your virtual session. When you book your session, the zoom link will be included in your confirmation and reminders. All you have to do is get your self and your space set up then click on the link!
"Pilates with Pippa is what I look forward to all week. After years of lifting weights at the gym and heavy cardio workouts, my body decided that routine just wasn’t working any more. I started looking for other ways to be healthy, fit and feel good. I found Pippa and from our first meeting, it was the place to be! |
