Swan Rehab's PWR! Exercise Group

On Thursday August 30th I had the pleasure of volunteering for Swan Rehab’s PWR! Exercise Group. This is a group class for people with Parkinson’s, PWR! is actually an  acronym for Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery. We started with a standing then seated warm up, using the Pilates principles of breath, balance, flowing motion, and rhythm as well as the FST stretch wave. The group showed me the tango they had been working on and we practiced adding some level changes, weight shifts, and flair. We finished with a cool down (standing and/or seated) stretch series. As you can see from the pictures we had a blast! I am hoping to go back soon, we are trying to organize a visit when some of the student’s spouses can come join us so they can practice their dancing (and exercises) together.
