Using your HSA or FSA for Pilates and Stretch Therapy

​Great news if you have an FSA or HSA: you may be able to get reimbursed for Pilates and Stretch Therapy.

HSAs and FSAs are savings accounts for medical expenses. They allow you to set aside money, pre-tax, for items and services that maintain or improve your health. And now, working with me falls into that bracket. 

I know how frustrating and complicated it can be to find out if you can use HSA or FSA funds for essential items that should qualify (like Pilates or Stretch Therapy). So I’m working with Truemed, a company devoted to driving HSA/FSA spending to products and services that are scientifically proven to improve metabolic health.

With just a few questions, Truemed determines if my services can help prevent or reverse a health condition. If so, they’ll send you a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), and then you can book your session with me as normal. 

Save your receipts for all sessions and submit them along with your LMN to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. 

The fee for obtaining the LMN is $30, which will be added to your first bill from me after you receive it. 

**Your LMN will be good for one year from the date of approval.**

*Unlocking Lower Back Pain! 10 Daily Habits That Hold the Key *

Simplicity and consistency are key!


1️⃣ **Healthy Movement**: Incorporate consistent exercise into your routine. You want to focus on some form of strength work, mobility, and cardiovascular challenge that works for your body.


2️⃣ **Prioritize Your Well-being**: Remember, self-care is essential! Take time each day for activities that nourish your mind and body. From meditation to connecting with others, prioritize your well-being. What fills you up? Start there…


3️⃣ **Stay Active**: Take movement breaks, especially if you have a job that involves a lot of sitting. Embrace physical activity beyond structured exercise. Take short walks, stand up and stretch regularly, or try swimming – it all contributes to a healthy back.


4️⃣ **Ergonomics Matter**: Pay attention to your posture, both at work and home. You don’t have to invest a lot to adjust your settings to be back-friendly, but you might have to get creative!


5️⃣ **Rest & Recovery**: Whether you are working out really hard or not, focusing on rest & recovery are important for resetting your body and your nervous system. Sometimes we have to train and practice how to relax, especially if this doesn’t come naturally to you.


6️⃣ **Quality Sleep**: There’s so much info out there about “sleep hygiene” nowadays, but for most people making the choice to prioritize quality sleep is the most important step. It helps to opt for a supportive mattress and pillows to maintain spinal alignment while you rest.


7️⃣ **Hydration is Key**: Drink plenty of water daily to keep your spinal discs hydrated and cushioned as well as your fascia gliding.


8️⃣ **Mindful Nutrition**: Consume a balanced diet rich in nutrients that support bone and muscle health.


9️⃣ **Breath Work**: Practice deep breathing and breath work exercises to reduce stress and tension in your body, including your lower back.


🔟 **Stretch & Unwind**: End your day with gentle foam rolling or mobility work to release tension and enhance flexibility. You’ll also wake up less stiff and creaky in the morning.
